1965 Mustang Convertible

This 65 belongs to a friend of ours here at Classic Restoration. He is a true Ford muscle collector. His current stable consists of a 64 Galaxie XL 390 tri-power convertible, 67 Fairlane GTA 390, 69 Mach 1 390 and a 08 Shelby GT-500 Super Snake to name a few. He wanted this 65 to be a fun, reliable driver. The tired 289 2bbl. and C4 transmission were removed for rebuilding. The engine was bored .030 over and reassembled to "Hi-Po" like specs. The roller cam was a custom grind done here in Denver and World Product heads were assembled with roller lifters. An aluminum intake and Holley carburetor were added just like the old days with a set of reproduction "Hi-Po" exhaust manifolds. The C4 was rebuilt and 3.50 gears were added to the 9 inch rear end. The engine compartment was blasted to bare metal from the firewall forward while the drive train was out, and refinished to a much higher level than it was in 1965 using DTM primer and our Hot Rod Black. The results are a car than runs as nice as any automatic GT-350 we have ever driven.
